Beer

I tried a couple of new beers this week. The first one was RED TAIL ALE by Mendocino Brewing Co. Not a bad beer. Clear crisp taste with a bite at the last minute. It is a very good beer for cooking. I used it in my meatloaf and you really got a good hint of the flavor. The brewing co is out of CA.

The other I tried Blue Moon "Honey Moon Summer Ale". Not a bad beer either. It is still a little like a Blue Moon white ale. It has a hint of Orange to it but goes down SMOOTH. Not sure I would spend a night drinking these but 1 or 2 would be OK

I had a good beer tonight at Outback steakhouse. "Tooheys New" thought she kept asking me if I wanted to try a 2 new. It turned out to be a good beer. It would make a good BBQ in the backyard beer. Went down easy and very refreshing.

Anybody had a new one lately??

I haven't really had much of a chance to try new beers yet. I am a member of Old Chicago's tour the world. 110 beers, since they are right accross the street from where I work. I may stop in and try new ones, kinda do what I am with the cigars. I need a hobby.

I guess i'm going to have to go on vacation to try something new..Have you tried the new Jimmy Buffetts Land shark lager..I haven't, but its made by Anheuser here in Jax..You know how i feel about AB.. Life is to short to drink crappy beer!!

If you haven't tried had Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout, do so..don't be wary of the name, there is no smoother beer on the planet!

There has to be some good beer in Seattle, that where alot of the American grown hops are from..

    Hey Chris,

Yeh there a lot of Brew pubs and small brewers around here. I have been trying to be a good boy and not drink to much because I am still on my diet. However, all bets are off in the next few weeks and I am going to get stuck in a few good beers from around here.

I was listening to the news just a couple of days ago and they were saying that in Washington there are more brew pubs and bars per capata(spelling) than anywhere else in the US. You cannot drive a block sometimes without seeing at least one pub.

We did stop at a brew pub in Rapid City that had some great beers. I think I did two of them in there, don't remember the names but good. I have found quite a few good beers as we made our way across the states.

I will look up that land shark lager next time were out. I did have the Oatmeal Stout, it was not my cup of tea. Mike got me to try it, I think he drinks it.

Mike got me to try the Oatmeal Stout as well, I am not a fan either. I keep meaning to get to the bar and try a new beer, but I live in the land of whiskey. I always seem to have scotch on the brain.

I also like the Mendocino brewing co. beers..Eye of the Hawk is the one I like best..There is a home brew radio station I listen to sometimes, and the master brewer from Mendocino is on there alot.. He strike me as very knowledgeable and also has a good sense of humor (always a plus for a brewer!) I just tried a Fiddlers Green IPA, made in NY I think..It was Pretty good, alot of hop flavor/bitterness..I have some Sleemans No 42 IPA in the fridge right now, haven't tried it yet, the only time I've had Sleemans was from Palm Coast Albertsons, a sampler I picked up from there..Pretty good stuff, from Canada.. Will post after a sample.

    Hey Chris,

What station is that?? I take it, it is on the satelite radio. I have sirus now so let me know if I can get it. Also let me know what time and etc so I know where and when to look for it.
Also, how about advice on beer. Like first am I describing the hop and bitterness right or is there another term I should be using. Is there something on the internet that I could read that would help in my beer knowledge.
Also I was thinking about doing something with beer like we are doing with cigars. Maybe grading some beers or just getting something like that going. I know that between just you, me, and Mike there would be a great difference in how a beer was graded. I do think in the end tho Justin and myself and you and Mike would have a lot of the same tastes. Maybe we could get a few others to join in, Like if Matt is reading this.......we have not heard any feedback from you.(will have to interface with "AMY" to get a response LOL)
Let me know if we want to get something started.

    Mike,

I just answered Chris on another beer entry. Sounds good, I will have to see if I can find that one local. Is that a local brew or not? Anyway, what do you think on the starting the beer grading?
